I’m a singer, folk musician, composer and teacher from Helsinki, Finland. Besides Finnish traditional and contemporary folk music my musical field of interest covers folk singing in it’s many forms, as well as vocal improvisation.
I graduated 2017 from Sibelius Academy as Nordic Master in Folk Music, and currently I work as a singer and composer in Ilo Ensemble (vocal group), Laitakaupungin orkesteri (band operated by professional musicians in Seinäjoki area), Helsinki Soundpainting Ensemble (vocal improvisation), Shamu (archaic folk music) and Emmi Kuittinen and Ikuisen ikävän orkesteri (lamenting). In the near past there is a Nordic band called Blink and Finnish-German project called Nordic Appeal. I have been involved in several stage projects which have included dance and theatre as I love to work with different forms of performing art. I also work time to time as a radio announcer at the Finnish National Broadcasting Company (YLE).
